And of course summer, too! :)
Over the years, I have professed my love of strawberries many times, particularly in the context of vintage recipes posts (such as this tasty strawberry cake recipe and this classic take on strawberry shortcake). Strawberries are not only one of a tiny handful of foods that I continue to be able to safely eat from a medical diet standpoint, but they're also one of my absolute favourite fruits ever!
{Spring is here, the days are getting warmer, and soon fresh strawberries aplenty will be everywhere! Take advantage of their culinary versatility with the 50 fabulous strawberry recipes in today's post. Vintage image source.}
Year-round, I nosh on strawberries, both in their natural state and as part of a wide range of recipes (sweet and savoury alike). As we head into mid-spring, strawberry season is just starting to get underway for many in the northern hemisphere and soon we'll be able to enjoy strawberries at the peak of their perfection. Green houses can work wonders, but nothing compares to the perfect taste, texture, and moisture content of a fresh-from-the-garden (or woods) strawberry gathered when it was in season.
Hopefully you can get your hands on plenty such berries this year and perhaps use some of them in the slew of 50 delicious strawberry recipes that I've rounded up here today.
A blend of old school classics, newer offerings, and thoroughly modern ideas from some of the best online recipe sites and cooking blogs, this tasty selection (which only just scratches the surface when it comes to strawberry dishes) is sure to have you swooning for one of spring's most famous fruits.
{All photos are care of their respective sources, which can be reached by clicking on the recipe link above each image. Unlike vintage images which are often much more in the public domain and for which the reproduction and sharing of is more liberally tolerated, I fully understand that some food bloggers do not like to have their photos shared on other blogs, even when a link back to their site is provided. If such is the case and your photo appears here, please let me know by email and I'll happily take it down or credit it in a different way that you're happy with. Thank you!}

Hungry all of a sudden? Me, too! :) Which of these seriously lovely strawberry recipes is calling your name the most? (The Nutella dessert tacos and strawberry shortcake cheesecake are both pretty much bringing me to my knees at the mere thought!)
Strawberries - cute, vitamin rich, beautiful little culinary offerings that they are - speak to spring and summer immensely. Their lightness, (ideally!) sweet flavour, and refreshing juiciness help ensure that they've been a firm favourite in many parts of the word for countless years now.
{Strawberries are one of the simple joys of spring, summer, and really, life itself! Vintage image source.}
Plus, strawberries are just plain fun! Seriously, they're amongst the happiest fruits, to my mind, and one that is such a harbinger of the changing seasons.
Be it on my table or in my wardrobe (for example), I reach for strawberries often during the spring and summer, and love knowing that I'll never run out of new and exciting ways to enjoy these beautiful little berries.
As strawberry season returns, how are you most looking forward to tucking into this awesome red fruit?
Aren't strawberries just the best thing ever! I adore summer fruits but strawberries are just the absolute best, the taste, the smell, oh the smell, there is nothing better than the scent of peak season fresh strawberries. Yum xxx
ReplyDeleteThey really are marvelous! I would happily eat my weight and then some in strawberries each summer. Yum-yum! :)
DeleteOodles of hugs & happy start of May wishes, dear Melanie,
♥ Jessica
What a mouth watering post, but alas I am severely allergic to strawberries and can only wear them! They are the very essence of summer and I adore them, in the inedible variety! Happy summer!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I'm truly sorry that these scrumptious fruits are off limits to you. As someone with a staggeringly restricted diet to due to medical reasons, I can wholeheartedly relate. Are you able to eat some other types of berries? Most of these recipes would be every bit as delicious with raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, currants, etc, if you can safely each such.
DeleteMany hugs & happy wishes for May,
♥ Jessica
HOLY. MOTHER. OF. ALL. THAT. IS. SACRED. IN. THIS. WORLD.
ReplyDeleteAhem, as a June Baby, I 100% approve this post! Seriously, I adore strawberries. Besides shoving them in my mouth pounds at a time, I never *do* much with them. They never last long enough to make it into a recipe, but I might contain myself this year. Some of these recipes are definitely a must try!!!
Happiest of Beltaines, dear friend! :)
Your shared enthusiasm for these endlessly lovely fruits is fantastic! How exciting that we both have birthdays on the warm weather front (July baby here).
DeleteThank you deeply, my sweet friend. Endlessly happy Beltane and (all of) May wishes for you and your honey, too.
Tons of hugs,
♥ Jessica

Wow!! I love these recipes. The strawberry fig tart and the the drink with strawberry and kiwi are the two I would most love to try! I just blogged about the fresh strawberries available in my area yesterday....great minds think alike, don't they? :)
ReplyDeleteThat they most certainly do! :) It's awesome that you've been in a berry filled mood as of late, too. I'm genuinely joyful that fresh strawberry season is here again and will be tucking in immense amounts of them straight on into the summer.
DeleteWishing you a terrific month of May, sweet Jennifer!

Amazing looking treats! Makes me feel so giddy that spring is here and summer is coming! I love it when the weather warms up! <3
ReplyDeleteSame here! My whole mood lifts, my creativity and productively alike generally skyrocket, and there just seems to be more reasons (strawberry season definitely amongst them) to smile come springtime.
DeleteHave a marvelous May, darling gal!
xoxo ♥ Jessica
I love that ad for the tie-tail strawberry shirt! Adorbs. :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fabulous? Mid-century ads excelled at marrying style and whimsy.
DeleteThank you very much for your lovely comment, Lisa. I hope that you're having a beautiful weekend.
xoxo ♥ Jessica
I'm in strawberry heaven! I love strawberries and could eat up anyone of these recipes. In fact just earlier this week I posted about the Strawberry Shortcake Pie I made. Yum strawberries. Anyways, thanks for sharing these amazing recipes, that are now on my must make list ;)
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, lovely Akram. It's wonderful that you're over-the-moon in love with these timeless warm weather berries, too. I hope tons of super sweet and delicious ones come your way this spring and summer.
DeleteBig hugs & happy weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
Jessica, I love you. We are a big fan of strawberries in my home. I am so coming back here when they are in season.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I'm sincerely happy to know that this post resonated so much with you and your family's own passion for strawberries.
DeleteHave a beautiful May!
xoxo ♥ Jessica
All those recipes look equally tempting, and yes, I am definitely hungry by now! I love strawberries and eat them in my breakfast fruit salad all your round, though they most definitely taste better in spring and summer. Have a lovely weekend Jessica! Hugs, Ann xxx
ReplyDeleteSame here, I rely on strawberries as a staple of my diet all year round, but do try to eat them all the more when they're in season come spring and summer. The taste of a perfectly ripe, naturally sweet berry is incomparable. Here's to the hope that tons of delicious ones come each of our ways this year.
DeleteBig hugs & happy start of may wishes,
♥ Jessica
Jessica, your posts always bring me such joy, and this one is definitely no exception! I love all the photos and I must say that I do love strawberries, so I really appreciate all the recipes here! Thank you so much for sharing and I hope your weekend (and all days) will be filled with love, peace and joy!
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderfully kind wish, dear Linda. It is returned to you in full force.
DeleteThank you for your lovely comment. We're having a sunny, splendid weekend here and I hope that you are as well.
Many hugs,
♥ Jessica
This post is cruel, just cruel! Hahaha!! These are simply TOO fit for human consumption. The one I would like to try most, aside from all of them, would be the spaghetti or baco balls with strawberry. I never would have thought. Time for my boring oatmeal now. Not a single strawberry in the house. That first photo, wow!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it incredible? I'm delighted to know that you enjoyed this post so much, dear Melanie. I had a fabulous - if very hunger inducing :) - time putting it together. I already have a fall time perfect version planned starting another delicious ingredient.
DeleteMany hugs & happy start of May wishes,
♥ Jessica
Live strawberries particularly with rhubarb
ReplyDeleteSuch a fantastic, classic combination. That will always be one of the main flavour memories of August in particular for me.
DeleteHave a beautiful May, sweet Kate,
xoxo ♥ Jessica
Hadn't given it much thought until I saw this post! Now I will be obsessing on strawberries and torn between which recipe to use first. These look just amazing. We do have a delicious strawberry pie recipe that I am looking forward to making once we have fresh strawberries here. YUM!

Perhaps a whole meal starring strawberries is in order? I'm seriously tempted to give that a try myself. It would suit Mother's Day, come to think of it, especially well.
DeleteThank you very much for your lovely comment, Linda. I'm tickled pink (err, red?) to know that you enjoyed this fun strawberry recipe roundup.
Have a beautiful month of May,
♥ Jessica
Yummy! Thank you for sharing these amazing receips! I will try the spaghetti with strawberry tomato sauce - sounds so delicious ;)

Doesn't it though? So unique and fun. Hope it turns out deliciously for you, sweet Sandra.
DeleteMany thanks & hugs,
♥ Jessica
Dear Jessica, you have made me question strawberries as I've known them until now !
ReplyDeleteWhat an array of choices ! I've had strawberries as part of desserts and once as an ingredient to a salad...
That's great to know, my dear friend. I hope that you adore any of the creative strawberry recipes from this post that you opt to try out.
DeleteTons of hugs & happy start of May wishes,
♥ Jessica
Ahhh! I love strawberries so much and I am so excited that strawberry season is here! I just can't get enough of them. I want to try so many of these recipes. The strawberry and goat cheese quesadillas sound really interesting.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't they though? I've been combining those two ingredients in salads for the better part of two decades now, but don't think I've had them in quesadilla form. Definitely some to try pronto! :)
DeleteHave an awesome month of May, dear Sarah!
♥ Jessica
I really love it when strawberries come into season. My favorite dessert growing up was mashed strawberries with angel food cake, and it's one that I still love. It might have been replaced by strawberry rhubarb pie as my favorite strawberry dessert though!
ReplyDeleteMost of these look lovely, but I'm not sure I'm on board with strawberry pasta...
So many yums! That was a staple in our house, too - especially at one of my grandparent's house (my granny was a master angel food cake maker). Did you have trifle, too? That was a specialty of my other grandma and morphed into a standard birthday dessert (to this day) for me as a result.
DeleteMany hugs & joyful wishes for May,
♥ Jessica
I suddenly have a craving for strawberries. . . Some of the these recipes look wonderful- definitely trying some of them. Thanks for the links!
ReplyDeleteThe Artyologist
My pleasure, Nicole. Thank you very much for your lovely comment. I'm delighted to see what a hit this post has been and already have an idea in mind for an equally tasty fall time entry in the same vein (but starring a different seasonal ingredient).
DeleteHave a stellar month of May,
xoxo ♥ Jessica
Oh my, my mouth is watering!! Xx
ReplyDeleteMine, too - sooo much! :) I can scarcely recall the last time I recipe post here stirred my appetite (pun intended) to the same degree. Perhaps last Christmas's vintage recipe roundup?
DeleteI hope that life is well on your end as we head into, May, dear Porcelina.
Many hugs coming your way,
♥ Jessica
And they look like little hearts!
ReplyDeleteI can't go past the strawberry bread. How pink!
So so many ways to explore. Thanks for the temptation.
xo Jazzy Jack
They really, really do - and how can one not love them all the more for that fact?
DeleteMy pleasure, sweet lady. I hope any recipes that you try from this list turn out splendidly for you.
Big hugs & happy wishes for May,
♥ Jessica
Why do I always make the mistake of reading your food posts when I'm super hungry already?! So many mouthwatering goodies here - and strawberry lasagne?! Blown my mind. Strawberries are my favourite fruit - so much so that I plan to have another outfit centred around them this year :D yum yum and yum again xx
ReplyDeleteThey're unequivocally one of mine as well (though raspberries take absolute top billing for me) and goodness did penning this post make me ravenously hungry, too. Good thing the local shops are starting to get some strawberries in. Might just have to invest in a ton (err, I mean flat) or two and make them the staple of each meal for the next little while. :)
DeleteHuge hugs & joyful weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
Oooohhh, I love strawberries, and like you, I am always looking for them all year! I didn't know you had items that you couldn't eat, but at least it's good to know that you can eat strawberries and love them! I love them a lot, too, and I use them in salads (I have some recipes with them on my blog). I didn't know about the strawberry bread ad now I want to prepare it! So many great recipes to inspire us, cakes, pancakes, muffins, cheesecakes with strawberries... yummi, I really want to eat them this weekend! Hugs, dear Jessica!
ReplyDeleteDenisesPlanet.com
Strawberry bread is fabulous! If you're a fan of French toast, it can be made in a really nice version, especially if the bread is a couple of days or more old (ditto for using it in lieu of cake in a trifle).
DeleteThank you, dear Denise. It is terrific for sure and I'm extremely grateful that they're one of a mere handful of foods that I've always remained able to safely eat over the years. I count on them as a vital part of my diet and get a lot of vitamins (especially C) and nutrients through these versatile little berries.
I hope that life is well on your end as we kick off May, and that the coming month will be as sweet for you as the best strawberries of the season.
Big hugs,
♥ Jessica
Jessica , thank you!
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering what the hell to do with my freezer full of last years crop! So many ideas, I don't know which to start with. At last, a change from my old favourite standby - strawberry and rhubarb crumble.
Love your blog,
Best wishes
Lorraine UK
What a terrific thing to hear in response to this post, Lorraine. Thank you for sharing that it may help to put the berries gathering dust (err, ice :)) in your freezer to good use.
DeleteHappy berry cooking, baking, and springtime in general!
xoxo ♥ Jessica
Oh my goodness - these all look amazing! I just love strawberry season! And I love that Ship 'n Shore ad, too - I'll take one of each, please! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSame here, pretty please - ditto for the beautiful ensemble in very first image. Her elegant wide brimmed hat in particular is endlessly swoon worthy!
DeleteHave an awesome month of may, lovely lady!
xoxo ♥ Jessica
WOW! I love strawberrys and I'm curious about the Strawberry Lemon Basil Pasta Salad and the Strawberry Risotto. Two recipes I've never seen before. The Strawberry Bread, Strawberry-Lemonade Icebox Pie and Chilled Strawberry Soup made my eyes pump :) Here in Portugal, we eat strawberrys only with milk cream, it's quite famous around here. Tt's the recipe that opens summer and the beach period!
ReplyDeleteMuahs,
Nar*
Strawberry risotto is simply amazing! I especially like it with a sharp pecorino or parmesan shaved over top at the table. Soooo good! :)
DeleteThat's a fabulous, and very classic, way to enjoy summer berries. We love it here, too - and, as an added bonus, it's colours suit our country's birthday (Canada Day) on July 1st especially nicely.
I hope you're doing well and having a great springtime, sweet Nar.
Tons of hugs,
♥ Jessica
Definitely I have to try it! Oh, so lovely :) I love your country <3 Many kisses and a great month for you, dear Jessica <3
DeleteOh, these strawberry recipes look delightful!
ReplyDeleteDon't they though? There are some truly creative, skilled food bloggers out there and we're all richer for the fact that they adore sharing their recipes with the world.
DeleteHave a beautiful May, dear gal!
xoxo ♥ Jessica
Now that I've drooled all over my laptop, I have to say I would LOVE to try the pizza recipe!!! I never though of putting those flavor combo's on a pizza. Mmmmmmmm, hehehe!!
ReplyDeleteOh, is my mouth watering. Recipe after recipe looks so good! All those recipes that include cheesecake in the title are calling to me! :) The strawberry shortcake cheesecake looks so good.
ReplyDeleteSarah
sewcharacteristicallyyou.weebly.com
Doesn't it though? Oh my stars! Me + cheesecake is a dangerous combination. If they weren't so brutal on one's waistlines, I could happily live off of great cheesecake! :D
DeleteBig hugs & tons of happy start of May wishes,
♥ Jessica
I would consume all of these recipes and I will have that gown in the first photograph if you please!
ReplyDeleteSame here, please - along with that stellar hat! I've always been wild about wide brimmed hats, but in recent years they're vied for top spot on that front for me.
DeleteMany hugs & thanks for your lovely comment,
♥ Jessica
Wow! So many options! Thanks for sharing!! XO

Really looking delicious....I’m always looking for new ways to change up old recipes. My fam is going to love this! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome, Miranda. I'm delighted to hear that this post will find favour with your family.
DeleteHave a terrific week,
♥ Jessica
One fabulous-looking recipe after another, Jessica! Funny, just last night we had strawberries for dessert—though nothing so fancy as any of these. No, I merely sliced the berries in half and arranged them around the edge of a green-glass plate, pouring some cream into the middle of the plate. Very simple, but hard to argue with the tastiness (or prettiness!)...and nobody complained a bit. How glad I am it is spring again! Thank you for collecting all of these, there are definitely a few I'd like to try.
ReplyDeleteHi lovely Jen, how are you doing this spring? It feels like a small eternity since we last had a good "catching up". I hope that you and your family are doing well and enjoying a beautiful season.
DeleteI'm happy to know that you enjoyed this fun strawberry recipe roundup post. It was thoroughly enjoyable to put together and I'm already planning one (starring a different ingredient, natch, for this coming fall).
Sometimes you just can't beat a great classic like that. My mom adores the equally simple and thoroughly lovely combination of fresh cut strawberries with a dusting of brown sugar.
Many hugs & thanks for your great comment,
♥ Jessica
I love those strawberry shirts! What a great collection of recipes; so many delicious sounding ones. I can't even decide where to start!
ReplyDeleteAren't they awesome? I so wish one of the repro brands would put out their own version of them these days (how cool would that be!).
DeleteI hear you! I was really inspired by these recipes and bought four clam shell type packages of strawberries during our latest grocery shopping trip on Sunday evening. We're having strawberries at least once a day this week and I can't get enough of them! :)
Tons of hugs & happy first week of May wishes,
♥ Jessica
Ahh, strawberries! I love them, but who doesn't!? This is an amazing collection of recipes, so I will bookmark the link and keep it for later user. Thank you for collecting and making this great list, dear. :)
ReplyDeleteSo true! With exceptions made for those who are, super sadly, allergic to them, I haven't encountered too many people who didn't enjoy strawberries (though surely there must be a small group of them out there). They're such a fabulous, versatile fruit. We're eating them by the pound practically at the moment and have been buying four clam shell type packages of them each week lately. Needless to say, we aren't hurting in the vitamin C department this spring. :)
DeleteBig hugs & many thanks for your lovely comment, sweet Sanne,
♥ Jessica
