Joyful Monday greetings to you all! I’m delighted for two reasons in particular this morning: one, because it’s less than a week until All Hallows Eve, and secondly, because this is the first of the now-to-be-a-(hopefully)-just-about-daily feature on Chronically Vintage, in which I bring you a stellar vintage (or modern but vintage looking) find that I’ve unearthed somewhere from within the wilds of the interwebs :)
{This lot of assorted, lovely sewing notions from the 1950s is a steal at $7.00 (US), and would make a charming addition to any sewing room, vintage ephemera collection, or display cabinet. Available from etsy seller Pansy Cottage.}
One thing I wanted to mention about the Daily Deal post is that while I’d imagine a fair number of such entries will feature an item of clothing, I will seriously try to share finds in a variety of sizes. I certainly know that it’s (usually) easier than pie to find a vintage dress for those slender lasses with 24 or 26 inch waistlines or those petite footed gals amongst us who wear a size five or six shoe. The vintage fashion world is ripe with pieces for those who fit into these sizes, but I’d venture to say that most of us do not! As such, I will strive to find pieces for the Daily Deal in an assortment of sizes.
Also, if there’s any type of item ("more gloves", "I love vintage salt and pepper shakers", etc in particular that you’d like to see featured in this post, please let me know, I always love hearing suggestions from my wonderful readers!
Cute! I learned how to sew this summer by helping to teach a sewing class at camp taught by a sweet, 70 year old woman. This lovely stash would definitely find a good home there!
ReplyDeleteLovely deal. I too love salt and pepper shaker, have lots. And just bought an old classic sugar container this weekend. Have a lovely day Jessica!
ReplyDeleteWow. I love all these sewing items. They all look great. Thanks for sharing these with us. I do really like this idea of a new feature at your blog. Hope you had a good weekend. Take care. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI only wish I knew how to sew! I envy you girls and your talent! Great post Jessica! Kori xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a steal! I haven't gotten into sewing supplies or buttons yet, but they sure are tempting.
ReplyDeleteMy recent obsession has been with vintage baby and children's clothes. I haven't been able to bear to part with any, so they aren't for sale in my shop yet! I feel like I want to create with them, but I can't decide what!
Great new series!!!
You made a great point! I've found that almost every single lovely Vintage dress I've come across on Etsy is for the slender women...which I'm no longer apart of that club anymore :-( Thanks for thinking of everyone!
ReplyDeleteOh,great post!And GREAT blog too

Love it! I am in need of updating my craft room and something like this would be lovely...
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you ever find that dress that would fit a 29" waist like myself.. :)
Ooo how fun! Those buttons look so cute! I love vintage ephemera, usually I get old papers and clippings on Etsy, they're just so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWonderful first post to the series!
ReplyDeleteOMG I have over 200 salt & pepper shaker vintage sets that I acquired a few years back! They are terrific...I have to start selling some...Glad you enjoyed my Lasagna Rollups...check out my recipe today...Green Tomato Cake!
ReplyDeleteStay Cozy, Carrie
I love everything ! So beautiful Jessica !
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I have some of my Dad's Aunt's and my grandma's sewing items. I love how they look! Actually, I love any vintage or antique items! I love, love, love reading stories set in the 1940's era. (Hmmm...perhaps you have some that you may have read and can recommend?)
ReplyDeleteBlessings & Aloha!
Thank you for stopping by and yes, you deserve the Sweet Icing on the Cake Award!!! I'm glad you enjoyed the baby animals pictures :o)
I just love the idea of a daily deal post! How fun! I understand regarding the sizing issue....I am obsessed with vintage shoes, however I wear a modern size 10! It is nearly impossible to find vintage shoes for myself! :)
ReplyDeleteThese sewing items are so cute. I don't think I could bring myself to use them, I would just decorate with them ;) Such a lovely find.
ReplyDeleteMakes me wish I was a skilled sewer.
I know what you mean about all the 24 and 26 inch waist vintage pieces out there :( I'm trying to lose weight at the moment, but I don't think I'll ever be a 24 inch waist girl. At least I've got the small feet ;)
Yes it's difficult to find large vintage clothing...they were tinier in those days perhaps...and I think those old wooden cotten reels are a work of art...love to you honey...
ReplyDeleteOh I love the look of those sewing supplies. So gorgeous.
