With spring's official return less than a month away, I can't help but feel like I'm standing on a runner's mark, just waiting for the starter pistol to fire and for me in turn to make a mad dash to my closet racks and dresser drawers to delve into everything light and airy and sublimely well suited to sunny weather.
I must cool my (snow boot clad) heels a little longer though, as we haven't reached that point quite yet, but thankfully will in the near future and when we do, I know that I'm not alone in the slightest in my desire to shed off my winter togs like a crab parting ways with an old shell.
It's often wisest to shop for a season before said time of the year strikes. So while there's still a soupcon of time left before spring barrels into town again, for a fun change of pace, I opted to forgo this month's usual edition of 25 Vintage Deals under $100 and instead share with you some of the loveliest, most spring and summer appropriate genuine 1930s - early 1960s dresses that have crossed my path recently.
In keeping with the spirit of that series though, most of these are still fairly (if not "very") well priced, with none of them coming in over $200, and several hitting under $100. I've tried to represent a range of different styles and sizes, as well as time periods, and really hope that one or more of the following frocks calls your name and might even be able to land in your own closet this year.
Here's to celebrating spring - and marvelous mid-century dress that suit it to a perfect tee - right here and now!
1. A unique and rather wonderful combination of different types of both fruit and brick or stone shapes combine in this sweetly pretty 1940s lightweight cotton novelty print dress, making for one seriously cool, very warm weather appropriate garment (that comes complete with matching belt). Fits up to a 37" bust/25" waist. $85.00 from Chronically Vintage on Etsy.
2. For those early days of spring or nippier nights of summer when long sleeves are a must, reach for this romantically beautiful 1960s light blue and white Jonathan Logan brand toile print dress and stay nice and toasty while looking supremely stylish at the same time. Fits up to a 39" bust/27" waist. $62.00 from Hollie Point Vintage.

Fits up to a 36" bust/26" waist. $70.00 from The Mermaid Tattoo.
4. Not only is this strikingly elegant 1950s/early 1960s blue floral watercolor-esque Kerrybrooke brand shirtwaist dress timelessly gorgeous, it's so affordable, I did a double take when I saw listing price. Fits up to a 36-38" bust/28" waist. $32.00 from Jane's Vintage.
5. The combination of vivid, vibrant teal green and soft, romantic cream lace in this stunning c. 1950s sleeveless dress is nothing short of swoon inducing. I would wear this to a garden party, summer wedding, birthday bash - or anytime during the warmer months when I really wanted to look spectacular. Fits up to a (snug) 36" bust/ 27" waist. $155.00 from Blue Velvet Vintage.
6. The scrapbooker in me remembers when terrific grey + yellow + white were the hot colour combo de jour three to four years ago. Thankfully, unlike trends in crafting that may come and go, this fabulous 1960s floral print short sleeved dress featuring the very same chic, fun trio of colours is bound to always be in style. Fits up to a 37.5 - 38" bust/28.5" waist. $56.00 from Hollie Point Vintage.
7. Butterflies, bows, star burst flowers, and dragonflies, oh my - and pretty please!!! This enchantingly cute, completely lovely 1950s sleeveless novelty print dress includes all of those seasonally fitting motifs and is so sweet you might not need any Easter candy this year! :) Fits up to a 32" bust/24" waist. $85.00 from Swing Kat's Vintage.
8. A garden's worth of gorgeous blue and brown blooms call this crisp white cotton 1950s short sleeve dress home. A classic shape, full skirt, and flattering round neckline only serve to heighten this fifties frock's appeal and wearability. Fits up to a 34" bust/29" waist. $75.00 from Chronically Vintage on Etsy.
9. Looking at the citrusy colours of this fabulously fun 1960s striped dress with its punchy orange hued buttons, I'm reminded of everything from lime sherbet to freshly cut cantaloupe, and suddenly, once again, summer can't possibly get here quickly enough for me. Fits up to 36" bust/28" waist. $46.00 from Sticky Lip Gloss.
10. There are few dresses into post that I wouldn't sport in the speediest of heartbeats, but this fantastic carnation pink patio style 1950s dress with its jaunty, darling rickrack trim is turning my knees to Jell-o and tempting me something fierce in the process. Fits up to a 40" bust/30" waist. $112.00 from Simplicity Bliss.
11. Pastel gingham? Check! Splendidly fun floral spring flower print? Check! Classic 1950s wrap style? Check! Gorgeously eye-catching shades of serene blue, purple and white leap out at you from this party perfect 1950s floral print dress that boasts dolman sleeves, a becoming v-neck, and a lovely fitted bodice that gives away to a twirl perfect full skirt. Fits up to a 37" bust/30" waist. $115 from Miss Farfalla Vintage Clothing.
13. Fresh, lovely candy-like hues team up with crisp white in this terrific 1930s zipper front house dress (with fun front pockets) to present the sort of spring and summer frock that will see you through picnics, days of chores, flea market shopping adventures, road trips and scores of other events that we all love to flock to as the mercury starts to climb again. Fits up to 36" bust/28" waist. $108.00 from When Decades Collide.
14. Paisley can often come across and commandingly bold and very vibrant (not that that is a bad thing, it certainly isn't and I'm personally a massive paisley fan), but when it's done up in soft shades that look as though they could have been plucked from a mermaid's seashell collection, as this enchanting 1950s cotton dress is, they take on a decidedly romantic and incredibly pretty quality that makes me want to fill my whole world with this same warm weather perfect palette. Fits up to a 36" bust/26" waist. $105.00 from Dalena Vintage.
15. From the beautiful colour palette of robin's egg blue, olive green and white to the charming detailing on the neckline and the warm weather perfect floral print, this awesome 1940s day dress is the kind of vintage springtime frock that you'll reach for time and time again. Fits up to a 37" bust/28.5" waist. $104.00 from Minx VTG.
16. My very first impression when I saw this wonderfully pretty 1950s light pink seersucker dress is how marvelous it would be as the starting point for casual (by vintage standards) Easter ensemble - add white gloves, a flower bedecked bonnet, and pastel hued jewelry for a look that rivals that of any egg filled basket. Fits up to a 43" bust/33" waist. $72.00 from Stutterin Mama.
17. I would sport this charmingly fun 1950s blue and white gingham dress with daisies (real or artificial) tucked in my hair, a pale wicker handbag, and open toed shoes for a fabulously charming, subtly country farm inspired sunny weather look that would be as cute as the day is long. Fits up to a 36-37" bust/28-29" waist. $65.00 from Geronimo Vintage.
18. Serene shades of green, blue and tan combine in this airy, sweetly lovely 1950s short sleeve summer dress - complete with matching bow detail - to create a palette that suits the return of sizzling hot days so bewitchingly well. Fits up to a 48" bust/36" waist. $58.00 from Old Faithful Vintage.
19. Seriously, I can't even handle the fabulousness of this 1950s Bettina of Miami dusty rose, jet black, and cream short sleeve dress. From the tiers of feminine lace to the full skirt to the bracingly mid-century silhouette, I absolutely, positively adore it all. Fits up to a 40" bust/30" waist. $69.00 from Little Star Vintage.
20. Pale blue and spring got together like Easter and eggs, and this strikingly lovely 1950s short sleeve light blue dress with bow detail and matching belt would be the perfect vintage garment for almost any kind of casual to semi-formal (add gloves, a hat and a great vintage bag to up the formal factor) event or daily errand you can think of. Fits up to a 40" bust/32" waist. $135.00 from Blue Velvet Vintage.
21. If, like me, you can't get enough of plaid all year round (I swear, some years I wear it more in the summer than in the winter!), than this thoroughly lovely 1950s pink plaid dress might be just the ticket to breathe some new life into your warm weather vintage wardrobe for 2015. Fits up to a 48" bust/38" waist. $68.00 from Simplicity is Bliss.
22. A sweet peter pan collar feels like it's the icing on the understatedly beautiful cake that is this tropical sea hued 1930s turquoise summer dress. Fits up to a 37" bust/29" waist. $165.00 from Stop The Clock.
23. The colour of chicks, daffodils, freshly churned butter, and spring sunshine itself, this gorgeous pale lemon yellow hued 1950s eyelet dress is a breath of cheerful fashion fresh air if ever there ways! Fits up to a 38" bust/27" hips. $112.00 from Simplicaity is Bliss.
24. There's something so lighthearted and yet powerfully chic at the same time about the blending of vertical and horizontal stripes, as seen here in this happy-go-lucky 1960s deadstock (aka, NOS) turquoise/green and white striped summer dress. Fits up to a 47" bust/50" waist. On sale at the time of writing for $30.00 from Mintage.
25. I intentionally saved this whimsically magnificent 1940s nude coloured sleeveless dress with its uber cute bubble bee and flower embroidery for last because I wanted to wrap up today's list with the most springtime appropriate vintage dress under $200.00 that I could find and this charmer nailed it sublimely! Fits up to a 34" bust/26-27" waist. $164.00 from Stutterin' Mama.

Before we know it, spring will be here and in preparation for it, I've already added a couple of new short sleeve, warm weather perfect dresses to my wardrobe this year. I love shopping in advance of a season, as touched on above, and highly recommend doing so. It can save you time and money and often offer up a much larger selection of seasonally appropriate clothing.
In fact, throughout the course the current season that we're in, the saying, "In winter we shop!" sprang into my head many a time, for it really is true that I try to inject new life into my spring/summer wardrobe during the winter and then, when the dog days are upon us, vice versa (maybe this summer will finally be the one that delivers my long sought after matching two-piece vintage snow suit).
As we shake the snowflakes from our hair and retire our toques for another season, what kinds of things are on your springtime fashion wishlist? Are any of these dresses calling your name? I must say, a couple are not just whispering to me, they're practically shouting and I might just have to heed their call, if my budget permits.
Whether you splash out on one, two, five or more new (old!) garments or simply enjoy and get the most out of the ones that you already have, I hope that this season brings plenty of great fashion inspiration and ideas your way and that the weather is cooperate enough to always let you get in outfit shoots, when desired, of your gorgeous springtime looks.
I have, rather naughtily, already bought both a pair of sandals and a summer dress with parrots on it, while we're still in February :S but, both were sale bargains so like you say shopping for these things now is not such a bad idea! It can be when you get the best bargains... I don't usually go for 40s styles, but the bumble bee dress is an outstanding favourite from your list here. Apart from the darling pattern, I really love the nude colour too <3 CC x
ReplyDeleteOoohh, your parrot print dress sounds so fabulously cool! I love a great novelty print from any era, especially when they involve either animals or food of some sort. Insects (cute ones!) are another favourite and one of my latest warm weather dress acquisitions has a dragonfly print. I've always adored dragonflies, but didn't have any clothing featuring them, so I pretty much justified the purchase on those grounds alone. :D
DeleteHave a fantastic weekend, dear gal!

What a great choice of dresses for your upcoming season.
ReplyDeleteThis post made me think about a conversation I had recently with my 85 year old grandmother. We were in a store and she was telling me about how when she was a child, her mother who had 9+ children was the one in charge of making the entire family's wardrobe, down to my great grandfather's linen undergarments. She also told me that her great grandfather would gift them "cuts" referring to textile so they would get the items made. As her older sisters grew they also began sewing for the rest of the family. Back then, there were very few stores and even then, there was very little to chose from. The conversation sparked because we walked into a store and she started talking about how now you can buy anything and then some as there are so many choices. This made me think about how our habits have changed, about how very accustomed we are to having things and our reach… somehow this post and the great selection presented reminded me of this :)
Hi lovely Lorena, thank you very much for your beautiful comment. I'm honoured that you shared so much with me about your grandma and her childhood. My maternal grandma came from a family of nine kids (eight girls, one boy) as well, so that really jumped out at me instantly.
DeleteBeing so immersed in history, including that of the Great Depression and World War 2, I've often reflected on similar things and how incredibly different the retail world is today compared to that of even just eighty years ago. There are pros and cons to both for sure.
Thank you again. Please give a big hug to your grandma from me the next time you see her (my maternal grandma is just a year younger than her - the two could practically be sisters).

so pretty I have been planning a similar post of spring vintage buys if I ever get my computer back
ReplyDeleteretro rover
You poor thing. I was computer-less for about a month in late 2013 and still remember how much impacted my life and workflow. I was playing catch up for months after I got my new one. I hope that yours is able to be fixed and that you can pen that post. I really look forward to seeing it, if you do.
DeleteBig hugs,
♥ Jessica
Oh my, these dresses are beautiful! I especially love number five, but couldn't choose just the one were I to be able to treat myself from your choices.
ReplyDeleteI've just been swooning over the dresses at Lindy Bop and hope to be able to buy one soon as I need at least one winter dress in my life. Do you have any items from there? I'd be interested to know what you think of them.
Thursday love to you sweet Jessica xxx
Hi sweet Melanie, thank you very much for your lovely comment and question. Lindy Bop was a brand that I swooned over from afar for years myself, too. It wasn't until this past Christmas when thanks to Tony's present (we usually just assigned a Christmas budget and then pick what we each want - it might not be all that traditional, but it makes us both happy, so that's what counts in my books with gift giving) and a 20% sale on Lindy Bop's site, I was able to purchase my first four dresses from them. For their price, I was completely satisfied with all of them, including the fit, which I'd worried about having heard some mixed things there from various folks, but for me at least, they worked well. I noticed that some dresses had different measurements from others, so depending on the style, I ordered one of two sizes (aka, some are one size, some are another). I've taken this approach before wither repro/vintage inspired lines that do the same thing and find it usually pans out really well for me. If you have any specific questions you'd like me to answer about the Lindy Bop dresses, please don't hesitate to ask.
DeleteTons of hugs & happy weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
Thank you for that! I've found this problem with lingerie in the past, that the sizes ran in odd ways along the whole range of a brand I liked! I ended up buying differing sizes in bras.
DeleteI suppose with the dresses it might come down to the fabric used, as I noticed this on another website when a chiffon dress ran to a different size to another dress in different fabric. I am lucky though living in the UK as I can easily return things, I'd be so worried about buying from out of the country. I have two Lindy Bop skirts and they are both lovely.
I look forward to seeing your new dresses in future posts! Have a weekend as fabulous as you yourself are xxx
You're very welcome, dear Melanie. Thank you, I look forward to sharing all of them as time goes on.
DeleteThere are very, very few options online (and zero in person locally) here in Canada for repro and vintage style clothing (though I must give credit to those that do for generally stocking a lovely selection), so I've been buying most of my repro/vintage appropriate and a large chunk of my genuine vintage online from international sellers for over a decade now. Thankfully, knock wood, I've had mostly positive experiences with fit (and otherwise), because if something doesn't work, shipping it back usually isn't an option with Canada Post's sky high rates. Instead I'll either gift it, trade it, or try to sell it online and recoup a bit of my investment in the case of the latter. One thing that I find helps a bit is if I determine that a given brand usually works well for me (Hell Bunny and Freddies of Pinewood are two that spring to mind there), because I feel more confident returning to them time and time again.
How lovely that you have to Lindy Bop skirts. Their skirts are as fab as their dresses and I'd certainly love to add one or more to my closet some day, too.
Have a marvelous Saturday!

*two*, thank you autocorrect!

What beautiful dresses! I can't wait for spring, I'm so tired of tights and stockings. I want some open toed shoes! :)
ReplyDeleteSame here, massively!!! And then I want to take my sun-kissed toes and dip them in the water at the beach.
DeleteHere's to the hope that spring returns asap for both of us!
Have a beautiful weekend,
♥ Jessica
I really like nº3, I've been looking at some dresses like that and I guess I'll ask my mom to make it for me :3
ReplyDeleteVery cool, sweet dear. It's truly awesome that your mom is able to help grow your wardrobe with her terrific sewing skills.
DeleteHave a beautiful weekend!
♥ Jessica
There are several dresses here that are calling my name! I am already on the hunt for spring and summer staples, mostly I am looking for shoes as I know I will need a pastel or white 40s/50s style pair of heels! I actually bought a new straw hat and a bright red celluloid beaded necklace yesterday, both exceedingly begging to be worn in the bright sunshine of summer. I don't usually get excited for summer but this year something is different and I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I hope it turns out to be a fantastic one for you, sweet dear. I'm really looking forward to the sizzling hot months as well. Though it does drain me something fierce, I've always loved the scorching heat of summer, assuming it's a dry heat, which we're very fortunate to get around these (near desert) parts.
DeleteYour new hat and celluloid necklace sound beautiful!!! I recently bought a new hat (a late 30s/40s wide brimmed red straw hat number - it's very understated in terms of embellishments, but packs a great punch thanks to its colour and shape) myself and am itching to give it a spin when spring returns.
Have a marvelous weekend!
♥ Jessica
Beautiful dresses. I'd wear 'em. And any blogger who can use "soupcon" has my attention!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Ally. It really is a deliciously marvelous word isn't it?
DeleteHave a fantastic day & tail end of February,
♥ Jessica
These are all beautiful, Jessica! I just love Gingham, it brings me back to fond memories of my childhood. I love to watch The Waltons and they have a green Gingham tablecloth on the kitchen table and it holds so many lovely times and good meals for them.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness *swoon* i am in love with these. the third one and then anything yellow. i'm personally very much a winter lover myself, but i suppose our winters are not as long as yours. here's to spring and lovely dress and pinning some of these on my ever growing 'sewing inspiration' board!
ReplyDeleteFor a really long time I shied away from yellow because most shades of it don't work well with my colouring, but once I hit upon the few that did/do, I was hooked and it's actually become one of my favourite colours. I only have one all yellow dress (it's a warm, lovely shade of mustard), but goodness does it see a lot of play during the spring and summer (and early fall) months. I'd like to add a whisper soft yellow dress to my closet some day, too, as it's another shade I usually have good luck with.
DeleteI'm happy to know that some of these vintage dresses spoke to you to the point that you'd like to perhaps sew up a version of them yourself one day. How lovely!!!
Big hugs & many happy weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
What a fabulously springY collection. I want most of them and am dreaming of a world without import tariffs.....thank you for posting such a cheery burst of colours!
ReplyDeleteIt is my sincere pleasure, sweet dear. Thank you very much in turn for your wonderfully nice comment. Goodness, do I hear you there! We get hit with big import charges (and brokerage fees, if an order come via courier) and it is something I always have to factor in when shopping internationally, too. If only each and every country and would do away with these irksome charges!
DeleteBig hugs & happy (early) spring wishes,
♥ Jessica
Jessica, you have gathered such a lovely collection of Spring dresses to inspire, each and every one so different in their details. You are right that last one is just so very pretty, spring personified. As we in the Southern Hemisphere are heading toward Autumn (my personal favourite) I am in the jacket, coat, hat mode.
ReplyDeleteI hope your Winter does not drag its feet to long for you.
As Glorious as my thoughts of sunshine and warm weather!
ReplyDeleteWhy, thank you, dear Nicholette. I hope that sunshine comes barreling back into town for you soon and that it lingers well into early autumn.
DeleteHave a beautiful weekend,
♥ Jessica
Hello love! All of the dresses are very charming. It's time to purge my closet and put my dresses back into rotation. It's hard to wear sweaters when it's 90" outside. #4 was already sold (lucky gal) so I'm off to browse your etsy store. Here's a tidbit going on right now, the jets have been rerouted over our house and the windows are shaking! Xo ChristyByTheSea.
ReplyDeleteHello my darling friend. It's always fun to come back a week or two later and click through all the links on a post like this to see which have sold. Of course, there's no saying that a given item went to one of my readers, if it has sold, but there's a decent chance, especially if the shop isn't one of the very top Etsy sellers who get reams of customers on a weekly basis.
DeleteHave a marvelous weekend!!!
♥ Jessica
this are the spring-iest of spring dresses!!!!! sooo inspiring!
ReplyDeletefor this years warm seasons i want to sew myself a new white skirt, some straight every day dresses - H-silouhette - out of tropical printed cotton lawn from stash and maybe one fancy dress. and i can´t wait to haul the summer garments out of storage........
hugs&kisses!
<3
Those sound like marvelous new additions to add to your wardrobe. I don't have an all white skirt myself (or an all white dress for that matter) and have been thinking lately of trying to find one. I feel like a pencil skirt would be a good choice, but an A-line or circle skirt might work, too. I'm leaning towards pencil though because it's a slimming cut and white isn't the most slimming of colours objectively, so perhaps the two could balance each other out (in theory!).
DeleteHave a fantastic weekend (and very fun time sewing!),
♥ Jessica
Sometimes I get so sad reading vintage dress listings; the bust/waist ratio is such that it's rare to find anything I can actually wear. (I prefer to think of myself as slim-hipped, but another way to phrase it might be thick-waisted -- 38" bust, 32" waist, and 39" hips. At least I'm tall, so people think I'm thinner than I actually am.) There was a vintage-inspired brand here in NYC's East Village where the workroom was onsite and they would actually make me a skirt to match the jacket I wanted, if the proportions were wrong, but alas, they were a victim of rising rents a few years back.
ReplyDeleteHi honey, I'm very sorry that you sometimes run into issues with the sizing of vintage dresses. I don't usually had problems there, but vintage suits are a whole 'nother matter entirely. I can literally read the sizing of dozens of them before spotting one that even sounds like it would come close. It's strange really, because my measurements are fairly well proportioned, but it often seems that if the jacket fits, the skirt is way to small. If the skirt fits, the jacket (not surprisingly) is way to big. I think you have great measurements and have seen a number of vintage dresses, usually with fuller skirts over the years that would work really well for you (in theory). You're measurements are closest to a 1940s/1950s size 18 or 20 (in the bust and waist), so you may have some luck searching for dresses specifically in those vintage sizes. Let me know if I can ever help you in your hunt.
DeleteHave a terrific weekend,
♥ Jessica
Just thought to check back for this now -- thanks for your reply -- you're so sweet!
DeleteI'll have to bite back on the "20??? I wear a size 8!" freakout that happens with much vintage, and persevere. I think maybe working on my sewing is the way to go, also, so that I can adapt patterns to fit me . . .
You're very welcome, dear gal. My pleasure!!! I get that for sure (I usually wear a 1940s/50s size 16, sometimes I can go down to a 14 or need to less often, up to an 18), but it's important to keep in mind that vintage sizes did not start a "0" (or, goodness forbid, "00"!) like today. Their exact origins are shrouded in a lot of mystery (as touched on in this post of mine from 2013 all about vintage sizing: http://www.chronicallyvintage.com/2013/01/vintage-clothing-sizing-101.html), and from the 1930s onward, when we start to see clothing sized with numbers, not solely off their measurements, the system generally began with a size 10 (pretty much today's size 0 or 2) for adult women.
DeleteSewing sounds like a great plan and I hope you have fun creating vintage-y garments that fit you to a tee.
Have a fabulous weekend!

What a lot of lovely dresses you have found for us. But I even cannot convince myself that I need more dresses. Hmm. I have a motto that is just like what you're saying: "buy Christmas decorations during your summer holiday", meaning that if you buy out of the season you get it so much cheaper. Bikinis are also always on sale during winter. I am still working on my wardrobe project where I try on items I haven't used for long to find out why. If I should change it or give it to charity. It is quite fun, and I hope it will give me some space in my closet, and I really like the idea that I will only own things I truly love. Wishing you a lovely day from my last day in Austria. We will drive 1,400 km home tomorrow, which I hate.
ReplyDelete:) I hear you there - sometimes I feel the same way, especially when working with a closet the size of a matchbox (I'm scarcely kidding). Then, two, three, maybe four months will go past, I'll see a vintage or repro dress that stops me dead in my tracks, and I just have to buy it - lack of space be darned! :D
DeleteWow, that is one seriously big drive. I hope it goes smoothly for you guys and that it isn't too unpleasant. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that you have a safe, enjoyable trip home from Austria (and worrying until I know you've made it back and all is well).
Happy weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
I'm back ... in Denmark, that is. It took us 17 (!!!) F... hours to drive home, queing all the way, sigh. :( We went right to bed. It is not like I will not buy anything either, I'm just like you (my secret sister), suddenly I also see a dress which I simply HAVE to own, and buy it. Funny, how something just looks and feels right. Wishing you a lovely day dear. :) And PS: I feel very tempted to make some memes with your photos now, but I will only send them to you. :)
DeleteThank you very much for letting me know that you made it home safe and sound. I swear, I've been thinking/worrying about you. 17 is a massive haul to do in one day. I can imagine that you'll be beat from that for a while - I certainly would be.
DeleteMeme away, sweet Sanne. It puts a mile wide smile on my face just imagining what you might come up with on that front. :)
Huge hugs & many happy start of March wishes,
♥ Jessica
Be still, my heart! I don't really mind winter, but I'm getting a little tired of all my boots. Give me espadrilles! And cute wedges! Ballet flats! All of the things I can't wear when it's cold and snowy outside, basically.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all these gorgeous spring dresses, especially the pretty paisley number. It's kind of strange, though - I usually get really excited about finding new things when a new season rolls around, but I'm mostly just looking forward to pulling out the spring/summer items that I put away at the start of fall last year. I can't decide if it's a sign that I've put together a good wardrobe, or if the cold has sapped my spirit.
I hear you there across the board. I felt that way about my fall/winter wardrobe this past half a year. Aside from trying to find more thick sweater and my perpetual hunt for a vintage snowsuit/ski suit, I just wanted to enjoy and make the most of the pieces I had. I think it's a positive sign to feel that way. It means you're content (always an awesome state to be in) with your current wardrobe. The older I grow, the more I feel this way with each new season and really, in general with my clothes.
DeleteHere's to the hope that the most sundress and open toed shoe perfect weather ever returns asap for both of us and lasts well into September (if not October!).
Have an awesome weekend,
♥ Jessica
Dresses numbers 2,3, and 10 are right up my alley! I wear spring-y colors pretty much all the time, so I'm always love the kind of clothes that are displayed more at this time of year--I'm just not as attracted to dark colors, usually.
ReplyDeleteI seriously want them all! We are currently heading into Autumn in Australia, but we don't really have falling leaves and the weather isn't really that cold. It's more like spring #2 to me. I will be looking forward to actually making an effort and not feeling hot and bothered every day
ReplyDeleteAs always, you've put together an enviable list of selections. It's so hard to choose a favourite, but I think that number 24 and 25 are both vying for top spot in my heart. I can't go past zany stripes and that little bee is just too cute for words!
ReplyDeleteOh , the dresses are all beautiful, but currently I love most of all dresses in blue or purple. ♥
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, 19 made me gasp. That is pure froth and dress heaven. For some reason it made me think of Gone With the Wind but I have no idea why. Maybe it's the lace across the bust. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention it, I can see that, too. Great observation, dear gal!
DeleteJoyful start of March wishes,
♥ Jessica
I'm rather drawn to both of the pink style square dancing style dresses, or patio, I normally refer to them as square dancing. Anyway, their close, but not quite close enough to being my waist size.
ReplyDeleteThat really is such a fabulously charming and very, very iconic mid-century look. It always makes me think of our town's annual square dance festival in August.
DeleteBig hugs & many thanks for all of your great comments this weekend,
♥ Jessica
Some really lovely dresses in this collection, it must have been fun to put together. The last dress is very cute indeed. The blue floral one with the belt and the Swirl dress are my other favourites. I started sewing a dress this week which will be perfect for Spring. It is from a re-released vintage Butterick pattern. I am very excited about it!
ReplyDeleteIt really was - dangerous to my wallet :D, but as fun as can be. Plus, the process when a bit more quickly than my usual 25 Vintage Deals post, as I wasn't looking for things in numerous categories, just vintage dresses, so that helped make it all the more enjoyable, too.
DeleteOoohh, how exciting! I hope that your new frock turns out splendidly! What decade is the re-released pattern from?
Big hugs & many happy wishes for March,
♥ Jessica
It is from the 1950's, it has a fitted bodice and a big skirts which wraps around from the back and does up at the front. It will go well with my flower bell cardi from 1952 which I have just finished knitting and need to stitch up.
DeleteI used to own that first dress! I bought it from Dethrose Vintage but it didn't work out for me so I sold it to a lady in Canada who later contacted me to say she was selling it on! It's funny how vintage travels the world! :)
ReplyDeleteIt truly is, especially since I'm the person that the lady in Canada sold it to and its now for sale in my Etsy shop. I love how some vintage pieces make the rounds amongst the members of our close knit circle like this. I've really been seeing it happen more and more often in the past couple of years.
DeleteIt's a beautiful dress. Were it my size, I would have happily purchased it for myself, but alas it's too small, so it's in the shop and I'm excited to see where it will land next. :)
Thank you very much your terrific comment, dear gal!

Spring where are you?? I want to wear all my cute spring dresses! Or buy some of these :) What a wonderful post that was a perfect read on this cold Monday Morning.
ReplyDeleteSpring is coming..it's coming (I hope...).
Liz :)
Second, my lovely friend, completely! Granted, spring isn't technically late yet, but it isn't early either and it can hardly get her soon enough. I think that because winter usually starts sooo gosh darn early for us Canucks, we're all the more eager to wave good bye to it come February and March. Six+ months is more than enough of this ice covered season!!!
DeleteWishing you a fantastic first week of March,
♥ Jessica
I wish that all these dresses could appear in my closet right away. They are so dreamy! <3 Spring is already in the air, and I can't wait untill it arrives!
