Earlier this month I had the pleasure of interviewing Emileigh Rogers from the terrific vintage lifestyle blog Flashback Summer. Many of you commented on that post expressing your interest in these kinds of interviews in general, and also (in some cases) eluding that you might like to take part in one yourself.
I've toyed with the idea of launching a blogger-to-blogger ongoing post series before and your extremely positive response to Emileigh's Q&A session has shown me that there would be a serious desire amongst my readership for just that.
As such, I'd like to take the opportunity today to encourage any and all fellow vintage (and rockabilly and pinup) bloggers who might be interested to drop me a line and we can discuss the possibility of such further.
These kinds of posts do certainly take some time and effort on the part of both parties, so they wouldn't be a weekly occurrence, more like a periodical one in vein with some of my ongoing series here such as Saturday Snapshots and Adventures in Vintage advertising. I think that an interview post a season or perhaps one per month, if the amount of interest was that high, would be a fairly likely.
{I might not be the BBC, but I am the "CV" and I would absolutely love to interview you, if you're a fellow vintage blogger who wants to have a fun heart-to-heart with me about the vintage related topics that you’re most passionate about. Zip me an email and we can take things from there. Image source.}
I will of course vet all blogs and will not team up with any in this interview type of capacity that are spammy or completely commercially driven. I’m looking for genuine vintage loving bloggers with sites similar to my own and Emileigh’s.
That's all there is to it! In fact, you don't even have to blog in English. If you speak English as your second (or third, etc) language to a degree that you can confidentially navigate a series of interview questions, which I will be sending you via email, then by all means, you're welcome to get in touch.
Though there will be some similar questions (such as something in the vein of "How long have you been blogging?" and "Can you tell me more about your blog?", each interview will be unique and tailored to the person that I'm asking the questions to.
Your interview with Chronically Vintage will be free press for your site and a way to help connect with an even larger audience of fellow bloggers and vintage enthusiasts worldwide. You are welcome to blog about it on your own site, share it on social media, or mention it anywhere you'd like and I in turn will do the same thing once it has gone live here.
I think this is a really fresh, exciting prospect and eagerly look forward to interviewing some of you, my dear fellow vintage bloggers, in the months and years to come. Thank you so much for letting me know how much you enjoyed Emileigh's interview and for spurring me on to launch this new post series.
*PS*
Speaking of interviews, I had the immense honour of being interviewed by fellow vintage loving gal Lottie Ryan for her stellar site Whose That Lady? earlier this month. If you haven't read our highly intimate interview - which covers topics such as my life with multiple chronic illnesses, my passion for vintage, and running an Etsy shop - be check it out now here today.
I'm up for it!! It would be an honour!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful, Nora, thank you very much for interest. Please zip an email my way anytime and we can chat about the prospect of an interview further.
DeleteHave a great weekend!
♥ Jessica
Interviews are fun and informative. They are a good feature for your blog but, knowing how much work they are, don't try to do more than comfortable.
ReplyDeleteThat's very kind and caring of you to say, Ally, thank you. I think that at the pace of once a month, if there's the volume of interest in this series to sustain that pace, or less frequently if there's not, is something I can currently handle, so that's what I'll be aiming for initially. I've already had 15 interested parties contact me, so at that pace, we'll be booked solid for interviews well into 2016! :)
DeleteHave an awesome weekend!
♥ Jessica
Absolutely positutely!! :) I loved your interview with Emiliegh.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Please drop me a line anytime and we chat further about it. The response so far has been amazing. I've received 15 emails and counting from interested parties in the first few hours (since this post went live). There are going to be oodles of interviews here this year and beyond, by the looks of things! :)
Delete♥ Jessica
My goodness, who WOULDN'T want to be interviewed by you?? *lol* Good luck with all the replies and e-mails you'll be getting! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're as kind as they come, dear gal, thank you very much. There has been quite a big outpouring of interest already. 15 people and counting in the first few hours (since the post went live) already. I'll definitely be a busy interviewer this year! :)
DeleteHave a fabulous Friday!
♥ Jessica
Dear Jessica,
ReplyDeleteI am a more "behind the scenes" person, and I don't have anything that would be worthy of an interview, but I wanted to say that if I did, you would be the person whom I would seek out for such an interview, and indeed, it would be an honour. I just watched your first video on your "about" page and it was great to hear your voice. You are such a lovely person, so kind and enthusiastic, and I love the green outfit you were wearing. I love green, it is my favourite colour, and it looks great on you.
I look forward to seeing any interviews that you do, and thank you so much for all you share here. :)
Hello sweet Linda, thank you from the bottom of my heart across the board. You are extremely kind, lovely and thoughtful person and I'm delighted and thankful that the internet allowed our paths to cross.
DeleteWishing you positive health always and a thoroughly lovely week,
♥ Jessica
i read your interview on "who´s that lady" - my dear! wonderful, moving and very helpful for others in that situation!!!!
ReplyDeleteand i´m with ally - please don´t do to much! we love you - anyway you´ll make this a monthly, 3month or yearly feature! :-)
tons of hugs!!!! xxxxxxxxxx
Thank you deeply, sweet Beate. I'm touched that you read and am wholeheartedly so by your kind words. Though I wouldn't say I went greatly in-depth with specifics about my health there, that is still more than I usually share online about my medical situation these days, but given the very nature of Lottie's blog and that we've been online friends for a while now, I felt comfortable doing so there in the hope that my story might help others in similar situations.
DeleteI'm going to aim for one interview a month (I've had nearly twenty interested parties email already, so if all goes to plan, there could be blogger interviews at the very least until well into 2016), but will not hesitate to slow the pace, if needed. It's so sweet of you and Ally to be concerned about me in that regard, thank you.
Huge hugs,
♥ Jessica
I would love to, but I would feel like a fraud promoting my blog when I hardly update it. I look forward to reading the other interviews though. It is always a great way to find new blogs to follow
ReplyDeleteHi sweet dear, please don't feel like that for the tiniest of seconds. This series is not a "who's who" of the biggest and most famous or frequently updated vintage blogs by any means. Instead it is a way for fellow vintage (and similar) bloggers who might not be aware of one another to connect and for my audience to be introduced (or reintroduced, as the case may be) to your lovely site. I think you'd be an ideal participant for this interview series and welcome you to email me about taking part anytime.
DeleteBig hugs,
♥ Jessica
I might just do that. Thanks for your kind words. Sometimes I think I expect too much of myself...
DeleteMy dear Jessica,
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the interview, I'm once again reminded of what a fighter you are. You, with all your (let's call them "issues") are finding reasons not only to get out of bed, but to posh-up, get snapped, blog, run an amazing online shop (shop is a shop - "online" is just a location, like any other.. might as well be "Main Street) :).
So, when my boss made a conclusion about me being the only one that "does not cry - EVER", I simply smiled - he has no idea where I pull mu strengths from. Sure, I get told off, and yelled at; but I constantly remind myself - if others, who have such major "issues" can pull out and have a good day - suer as he** can I.
...you had no idea you're such and inspiration... right?
Well, you are.
There's not much to me, so an interview... hm?! Maybe only on a house reconstruction. :)
Huge hug.
Marija
My endlessly kind and dear friend, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your touching, uplifting and very beautiful comment. It was all I could do to keep tears at bay. So often we plow through life, whether our heads are up or down, and don't per se stop to think about how people see us in the deeper kinds of light (aka, not just how they might judge our Instagram selfies, for example) and the inspiration we may be providing them with.
DeleteI'm deeply sorry that your workplace is anything but a bed of roses and am touched and honestly humbled to know that thinking of my/my battles sometimes helps to get you through tough moments there. That is one of the most heartfelt and lovely things I've ever been told.
You are a strong, brave, awesome woman, too, whom I look up to and admire greatly as well. I feel blessed that the web lead us to meet and that not only say hi on our sites, but to develop a deep, beautiful friendship.
This comment will stay with me always and brighten my own days, I'm certain, when life is throwing a proverbial rain storm my way.
Endless hugs,
♥ Jessica
What a great interview you gave on the site, I know admire you even more then I did before. I also think this is a great idea to interview bloggers, I missed the post for a few days as Im without a computer, I think it will be a great feature on your blog and hopefully someday I can be an interviewee, though my blog is pretty small as far as readership
ReplyDeleteretro rover
Hi sweet Kate, that is so immensely touching, thank you very much. I'm thrilled that you want to take part in this new series and really look forward to featuring you and your delightful blog.
DeleteHuge hugs & happy Monday wishes,
♥ Jessica
I'm sure you have been inundated with requests to be interviewed, but I would be so honored if I could add my name to the list! Goodness, it sounds fun! And once again, I am so impressed by all the hard work you put into your blog. It really has such a fabulous variety of content and I know that's all you. So thank you again for all your hard work in creating this truly enjoyable vintage community. ❤
ReplyDeletexox,
bonita of Lavender & Twill
That would be fabulous, dear Bonita! You're spot on - the response has been amazing and working at an optimistic pace of one interview post per month, I've already booked well into next year. I love that though and would equally adore having you be a part of this series. Please feel free to email me anytime so that we can set up a month down the road for your exciting interview post.
DeleteThat is tremendously sweet, kind and thoughtful of you to say regarding my content. Thank you! I love blogging and being a part of our online vintage community and those things seem to perpetually fuel my fires for what I do and help me to continually come up with fresh ideas for my blog. Thank you for such a meaningful comment - it really touched me.
Huge hugs,
♥ Jessica
This sounds very exciting! I would be very interested in being interviewed. You are such a wonderful, talented and dedicated blogger and are a strong link in the chain of this amazing vintage sisterhood. It would be an honor!
ReplyDeleteIvy
Hi sweet Ivy, that is truly awesome of you to say. Thank you very much - I'm humbled by your incredibly kind words.
DeleteIt would be fantastic to have you take part in this exciting new interview post series. Please drop me a line anytime and we can take things from there.
Huge hugs,
♥ Jessica
I think this occasional interview series will be very exciting as you always ask great questions. I am certain you will get an amazing response. Off to read your interview now.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your support of this new series, my sweet friend. I'm really psyched about it and have been floored (in a wholly positive way) by the outpouring of interest in it. I have bloggers lined up half way into 2016 already! If you'd ever like to take part yourself, please don't hesitate to let me know. It would be a treat to feature you here on CV.
DeleteTons of hugs,
♥ Jessica
Wow! I am glad you have had so much interest but not at all surprised. It is going to be very exciting. If you would have me I would dearly love to take part one day.
DeleteI would truly love for you to take part, sweet Kate. I realize it's a rather long ways off still at this point, but I'd love to give you the next available month, which is June 2016. If that works well for you, let me know and I'll pencil you on the calendar doc I created for this new interview series right away.
DeleteHave a wonderful Wednesday!
♥ Jessica
That would be great for me and gives me something marvellous to look forward to! I am so pleased for you that this is proving so popular and look forward to reading all these fantastic interviews.
DeleteThat's awesome! I'm really excited and can hardly wait for June 2016. Far off as that is, I'm sure it will get here in the blink of an eye. Thank you again for wanting to take part. It's going to be a blast to chat with you interview form - that's one of the few online types of conversations we haven't had yet. :)
DeleteThinking of you & sending countless happy weekend wishes your way,
♥ Jessica
That's a great idea!!
ReplyDeleteHi sweet gal, thank you very much! I know you have a strong passion for vintage, too, so if you'd ever like to take part, please don't hesitate to drop me a line. It would be a blast to chat paper crafting and vintage with you.
DeleteBig hugs,
♥ Jessica
Oh that would be lovely! But I am afraid my blog isn't 100% vintage, so...
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!
Hi sweet dear, please don't worry for the tiniest of moments. That is totally okay - it doesn't have to be to be a part of this series. The key criteria are that you love vintage and be an active member of blogging community. You hit the nail on the head there on both counts and would be a great choice for this new series.
DeleteThank you very much for your interest, honey. I look forward to chatting more with you about this prospective interview.
Big hugs,
♥ Jessica
Oh, that would be a dream, but I don't think many would find me interesting, and my blog closes next week, so then I only have IG - which I love, but which also is about so much more than vintage. I will look forward to reading your interviews, they are very entertaining and perhaps I will find new blogs to read. PS: I read your interview. You are gifted with words, dear. I read the list of chronic illnesses and although I did not understand all of them, it broke my heart to read. I do hope you will be cured for as many of them as possible. You are a true fighter, and a beautiful one. Wishing you a lovely day. :)
ReplyDeleteEven though you're retiring your blog, if you would ever like to take part, I'd be honoured to interview you, my treasured friend. I know you and your passionate for vintage well and think that folks would still love to learn more about you all the same and as you said, we could point them towards your IG (and your Etsy shop) still.
DeleteThat's deeply kind and caring of you to say, thank you with all my heart. I hope so, too, but being a very realistic person, I know that the likelihood that a cure for one, let alone several of them is quite slim. Still, there's always hope and the possibility that some strides/new medicines/treatments may come along for some of them, if not full on cures. It means a lot to me that you read that article, Sanne. Thank you for doing so.
On a more upbeat note. Though still icy cold, we have have sunshine here again this morning and it's giving me some massively needed energy as I embark on another super long day of doing my business taxes this week.
Tons of hugs,
♥ Jessica
