Pattern matching is one thing, and I do dabble in such from time to time, but blending two distinctly different geographical styles as they relate to fashion is not something I dip my toes into very often.
Pulling such off can be tricky at best and look downright wonky at worse. That isn't to say it can't be done - and indeed, some fabulous styles have been born of such marriages - but, again, it's a risky zone and one that is best approached with some forethought.
A little earlier this year, as first mentioned in this fun camping outfit post last month, I had the great pleasure to begin a working relationship with the exciting British vintage/retro/rockabilly inspired fashion and housewares brand, Inkabilly.
I was drawn to Inkabilly's creations for a number of reasons. Not only are they vibrant, fun and very well made, but the company is helmed by a passionate husband and wife team (Lee and Karl).
This really resonated with me, as a lot of business related things that Tony and I do are shared together in a similar way (for example, we founded and have both subsequently run our free weekly new book email notification service, Any New Books, together for over six years now).
Lee and Karl kindly let me select a few of their stylish offerings to share about with all of you and this week I'm tickled pink - or, perhaps more like red and blue :) - to get the opportunity to highlight another of their excellent offerings here today.
Two of the items that they kindly sent me were their signature headscarves, of which is this is the second (the first stars darling, vibrantly hued flamingos).
Like many a vintage fashion fan the world over, I have a serious love for all things nautical related. From the colours to the imagery to actually being near the water, I flock to nautical related things and love when the chance to put together a new outfit based around such arises.
We're a few hours away from the actual (Pacific) ocean, but we are fortunate to live in a town with not one, but two, large lakes (plus numerous other lakes and rivers in the general area), which can serve as a good stand in for such.
In the case of this particular shoot, we opted to take snaps in the bright, warm late afternoon sunlight recently down at Rotary Park at Okanagan Lake here in Penticton. This is a spacious, lovely swath of grass and flowers that is popular as a lounging spot with locals and tourists alike.
We've shot here a small number of other times over the years and will likely return to it again and again in the future, as it offers up a slice of both grass (aka, the “nature” in my puntastic post title, which takes inspiration from the well known rap group, Naughty By Nature) and a large expanse of beautiful blue water.
My outfit was selected earlier in the day and the location determined later on, but I knew that as I had boldly opted to partner that most classic of farmyard staples, the humble denim overall, with nautical elements, that I wanted both turf and lake alike visible in my outfit snaps that day.
It struck me that I hadn't sported my Freddies of Pinewood overalls, which I love to the moon and back, here in ages (seriously - the last time may very well have been the spring of 2013), despite the fact that I live in them year round (they, like my other Freddies pants, are my staple dog park attire, as they hold up awesomely to the rigours of Annie and her energetic canine chums).
I was in the mood to wear them on camera again, but also wanted to highlight this fantastic anchor print headscarf from Inkabilly, and so this outfit - a mashup of land and sea - was born.
It's a casual, fun look and one that suits the unpredictable nature of our weather this summer really well (though, delightfully, we were treated to some gorgeous sunshine on the particular Sunday when we took these snaps).
To echo the anchor print in the headscarf (called the Anchors and Stripes Nautical Rockabilly Bandana, which retails for a very reasonable £6.99), I opted for a fun mid-century vintage enamel anchor shaped brooch and a made-by-me vintage inspired anchor charm bracelet.
Beyond that, a basic red top, plus a tawny hued vintage handbag and forties style shoes in the same colour round out the mix, both picking up the dark golden stitching in the overalls themselves.
Simple, in many ways as this outfit may be, I absolutely love it! I haven't dabbled in farm meets seafaring looks very often, but this ensemble has me thinking that I should delve into such a bit more frequently. Dark overalls like this, with their inky indigo shade, take to classic nautical shades like red and white extremely well and are reminiscent, colour wise, of classic navy blue sailors trousers.
I really like this charming nautical print headscarf from Inkabilly. It's lightweight, expertly made, has excellent colours, and would go with a million and one different nautical inspired looks. I could easily see packing it the next time we were headed to the ocean, but know that it will get plenty of wear around these landlocked parts as well, and want to sincerely thank Lee and Karl for sending this terrific vintage inspired accessory my way.
So while it might not be everyday that I meld two distinct styles like farm/land girl and nautical together, I must say, I'm very happy with the results of this experiment and love that I now have yet another styling technique to get even more mileage out of both my Freddies overalls and this great new anchor print headscarf alike.
Do you ever mix two (or more) unique styles as well? Would you wear a nautical meets farmland ensemble yourself?
I hadn't even thought of the fact this outfit was mixing two styles together, I just thought it looked fab! I'm probably doing the same all the time without realising it - or deliberately sometimes (like eras, putting something obviously 50s and obviously 60s together, for example) - such is the fun of wearing vintage styles in the modern era :) I love this cute dungarees look - I've still never braved wearing them as I fear the child comparisons at my height, but boy they sure look good on you so I think I should try it!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it though? I'm with you there big time. I'll go "full on period authentic" sometimes, but I'm both eclectic and creativity driven, so I don't like to limit myself to such entirely and really enjoy dabbling in decade mixing, blending different styles, and combining new and old to create a mid-century inspired look. You excel there, too, my sweet friend, and I always sincerely adore seeing each beautiful outfit that you share with us.
DeleteI get that for sure - at barely 5'2", I too try to be mindful of not reverse aging, so to speak, myself via my fashion choices. To me, these classic Freddies are much more Land Girl than playground, so thankfully that hasn't been an issue for me so far. I bet they'd look terrific on you, too.
Oodles of hugs & happy weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
Such a cute outfit! I avoid overalls because I don't think they look feminine but you overcome that nicely. The high waist, the plunging neckline, and the bright colors combine to bring female charm to a pedestrian male-garment. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a splendidly nice compliment, Ally. Thank you very much! I think that the fitted element is often key in creating a strongly feminine look that includes this classic garment.
DeleteHave an awesome weekend,
♥ Jessica
Well, aren't you adorable!!! This is outfit looks so effortlessly cute! And you have the best nautical accessories! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly, my dear. That's so sweet of you to say. I do adore a great nautical themed piece, it's true. :)
DeleteMany hugs & happy Friday wishes,
♥ Jessica
You're rocking those Freddies Jessica! What a fab look. Great photod too as always from Tony. Love that last face close-up in particular x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, my dear friend (from both of us), for showing these snaps with such lovely compliments.
DeleteOodles of hugs & cheerful weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
Adorable overalls! The look reminds me a bit of Rosie the Riveter from WWII, especially with the scarf. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a fabulously nice comparison, Laurie, thank you so much.
DeleteBig hugs & fab Friday wishes,
♥ Jessica
I LOVE these overalls! ERMERGERD so cute on you!
ReplyDeleteI will say the same thing as CiCi, I didn't even think of two styles mixing here. I saw beatifull red under awesome overalls with great shoes.
Love it!
Anna

Hi neighbour :) Thank you very much for your absolutely lovely comment. It's always interesting, isn't it, how we perceive our outfits and how others see them.
DeleteWishing you a fantastic weekend,
♥ Jessica
This is too cute and a very clever combo
ReplyDeleteThank you sweetly, dear Kate. It's a simple outfit (by my standards at least), but a fun one all the same and I think that's down to the blend of styles and the cute accessories - Inkabilly headscarf very much included.
DeleteWishing you guys and precious pets an awesome weekend!
xoxo ♥ Jessica
Such an adorable outfit! I love all your accessories you've paired with it especially that super cute charm bracelet! I can't believe you made it yourself! Awesome job! <3
ReplyDeleteAww, you are such a dear. Thank you very much for the immensely kind compliments, including the one on my charm bracelet. I'm touched to know that you like it so much. I made this bracelet a few years ago now, but as I've finally eked out a spec of time to craft again at long last this summer, I'm hoping to whip up some new pieces in that not-too-distant future.
DeleteMany thanks again & have a beautiful weekend,
xoxo ♥ Jessica
I love, love, love those overalls on you! They look so cute. Great photos and, as a lover of all things nautical, the colours and accessories are just perfection. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much, lovely Cate. Overalls are such a fun, cheerful garment - especially when worn simply for the sake of fashion (as opposed to as a utilitarian garment).
DeleteI hope that you're doing great and having a terrific week.
Big hugs,
♥ Jessica
I want everything you're wearing. The bib overalls are to die for! The pin, the bracelet, the headscarf. Perfection! Arrr me Hearty!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you, dear Tam. It was a fun outfit to put together for sure - and one that I might not have reached for during the other seasons, but which, to my mind, seems to perfectly at home during the roasty-toasty summer months.
DeleteMany hugs & happy weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
I'm not usually a fan of overall, but I love these! You look adorable in them. I think the fact that they have a nice high/small waist makes them look more purposefully vintage vs. crappy old overalls. I would like to see the shoes better in your outfits! (I love shoes, what can I say?).
ReplyDeleteI must also say that I'm happy to see...your teeth! You always smile with your mouth closed and it's nice to see your "real" smile. :)
When it comes to my own wardrobe, I don't fancy most contemporary overall styles either (though do think that they look great on some folks), but give me a fabulous mid-century style pair like this and I go weak in the knees (which is okay, as their durable fabric should withstand the ensuing fall ;D).
DeleteThat's really sweet of you to say (re: wanting to see these shoes in greater detail). I have a rather modest sized shoe collection - by modern standards at least - and usually tend to just do detailed shoe snaps the first and maybe second time (or if it's been many months between wearings) I post a particular pair of shoes, less folks get sick of seeing the same few pairs ad nauseam.
I will definitely keep what you said in mind though and try to remember to take more shoe shots, especially if it's been a while since a given pair was last sported.
Here's a post from back in 2012 that includes a side view of these shoes back when I nabbed them for a total song at a local flea market: http://www.chronicallyvintage.com/2012/06/my-favourite-spring-2012-vintage-yard.html
Thank you very much. Ever since this post (http://www.chronicallyvintage.com/2015/10/new-clothes-and-old-habits.html) last fall, I've really been working to continually push myself outside of my comfort zone regarding my (horribly crowded and crocked teeth). I don't flash my pearly whites in every shoot, but if a nice snap is taken that involves them, I will usually share it now and that's a massive leap forward on the self-consciousnesses front for me.
Wishing you a sunny, fantastic weekend!
xoxo ♥ Jessica
You are looking lovely in your nautical outfit, Jessica and I especially love the photos of you in front of that colourful flower display! What a wonderful setting! Big hug, Ann xxx
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you, dear Ann, you always shower me with such radiantly lovely compliments (each of which I wholeheartedly appreciate it).
DeleteOodles of hugs & joyful weekend wishes coming right back at you,
♥ Jessica
Great! Love the bracelets, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, sweet Liz. I made this bracelet for myself a few years ago, yet, am thinking this is only it's first, or at most, second wearing it here (that's rather shocking, come to think of it, given how much I adore nautical themed ensembles).
DeleteMany hugs & happy weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
Hi Jessica, I love the setting you used for this photo shoot, with all the brightly colored flowers that complement your nautical theme. The red ones are almost a perfect match with your shirt, too. I'm probably dating myself, but I remember when denim overalls were the "in" thing to wear to school, and I know I owned at least one pair. I like how you've dressed these up and created a more feminine look with the low neckline and nautical accessories. It's different from other things I've seen you in so far, but definitely works!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, dear Janet. I really liked that about this setting, too. The light could have been a smidge better in the moment when we took these snaps, but the location itself was just beautiful.
DeleteWishing you a fabulous weekend,
xoxo ♥ Jessica
Dear Jessica, among all the outfits I saw here, and I loved all of them, I now have a favorite one - and that's this amazing outfit you are wearing now! I loved your overalls and above all, this nautical bandana you are wearing, and for a nice price, I want one! I am glad you live by two (and even more!) nice lakes - I am someone who needs to live close to "water"! I really loved the colors you chose, I think all look so good together! You really look fabulous! I wish you a nice trip to Edmonton, but that will take some days, I know; nevertheless, wishing again! Hugs and regards!
ReplyDeleteDenisesPlanet.com
What an awesome compliment, dear Denise. Thank you so much! It genuinely fascinates me to know what of my looks people adore the most. I find that it varies considerably and just never know what look with me the ultimate "one" for a given blog reader. I'll certainly think of you now when I wear my Freddies overalls, knowing how much you enjoyed this particular ensemble.
DeleteSame here! I grew up around it (first the Pacific Ocean and mighty Fraser River, then the many bodies of water in the Okanagan) and always feel a bit out of sorts if I don't live in area that's close to a lake, ocean, river, or at the very least, a hefty sized pond. :)
Many hugs, thanks & joyful weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
You look fabulous in your dungarees and the head scarf is the perfect accessory.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, Tony's got a great eye for detail! xxx
Thank you very much (from both of us), sweet Vix. One of our favourite elements of nearly every shoot we do is when, right at the very end, Tony looks at me and says just one word, "Details?". This is my cue to let him know which elements of my look he wants me to take closeup shots of. It's a simple act, but a meaningful one and taking outfit photos just wouldn't be the same for either of us without it. :)
DeleteOodles of hugs & happy Friday wishes,
♥ Jessica
I love your outfit! It's great for boating, but it also reminds me of a WWII factory worker. I've probably mixed styles together for some of my Halloween and Purim costumes, though in a subtle way. This past Purim, for example, I put together a red Bohemian skirt, a red and black decorative apron, a burgundy knitted shawl, a red dress, and a black and red bodice for a traditional Serbian outfit, and paired it with the Gothic look of black lipstick.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like one seriously awesome Purim outfit, my dear (and now, having read your mention of such, feel like I want to bust out my black lipstick...soon, autumn, soon... :D).
DeleteMany hugs & thanks for your great comment,
♥ Jessica
Oh my giddy aunt!! I ADORE everything nautical and this outfit is so sweet! I love your anchor head scarf, pin and that charm bracelet makes me smile so big!! What a delightfully fun image you are!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
g
You are so fabulously lovely, Gina. Thank you for the cheer of enthusiasm for this fun look. Your comment made me beam ear-to-ear.
DeleteOodles of hugs & happy weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
Those are the cutest overalls! I'm loving the nautical theme, and the scarf is so pretty :)
ReplyDeleteThank you sweetly, lovely lady. Aren't they just fabulous? I've never owned a pair of overalls that I adored even half as much as I do these classic mid-century style ones from Freddies of Pinewood. I'm going to wear these until their threadbare and then, assuming they're still available, order more. These ones are holding up awesomely after five years, so I hopefully that won't be for quite a while still to come (they really are fabulously durable!).
DeleteBig hugs & cheerful Friday wishes,
♥ Jessica
What an utterly adorable look! I love the overalls just on principle, but the anchor theme running through the rest of the look really takes it to a fun place. The scarf and the brooch are a fantastic way to tie everything together, and your beautiful style is the perfect capper.
ReplyDeleteThat is one seriously terrific - and touching - comment, my sweet friend. Thank you so very much. I really like this outfit, too, and am thinking I might need to marry two distinct style inspirations more often. :)
DeleteI hope that you guys are doing great and enjoying a sunny, wonderful August.
Big hugs,
♥ Jessica
You really pull this look off, a fact that doesn't surprise me one iota. I love nautical themes, you can't go wrong with the colour scheme and that head scarf and bracelet are amazing. I'm about to embark on making myself a pair of sailor style trousers so we shall see how that pans out with my rather large posterior being a potential problem. Anyway, you look beautiful as always and your smile is a true tonic xx
ReplyDeleteYou're just as sweet and kind as they come, dear Emily. Thank you for the immensely lovely compliments (including the one about my smile). How exciting that you're going to be making a pair of sailor style pants for yourself. That sounds like oodles of fun - and I really hope that is just that for you.
DeleteHappy sewing & cheerful weekend wishes,
xoxo ♥ Jessica
I love, love this whole look on you Jessica...especially those dungarees! But I also adore the nautical look as well! Awesome blog post my friend! xo
ReplyDeleteThat's so very lovely of you to say, sweet dear, thank you very much. Nautical styles are so fabulous. I just adore that many of us in the vintage world excel at keeping this classic theme alive and well all the more.
DeleteBig hugs & joyful weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
Absolutely: I love this clothing! And the accessories are highly adorable! These beautiful shots, these flowers are so precious to me ... they take me back to the cool of spring! Now we have taken even the sunflowers, and even the garden is so dry!
ReplyDeletethe brooch is amazing!
baci
serena
Thank you very much, sweet Serena. One of the "perks", if you will, of the immensely damp April - early August that we had here is that most of the local gardens were reaching near tropical jungle levels of lushness. Just the thing for fun photo shoot backdrops. :)
DeleteMany hugs & happy weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
Dear Jessica,
ReplyDeleteI think your outfit is adorable. Yes, I would wear something like this. Safari and farm sound like fun as well :)
I love mixing fabric patterns. I love plaids and strips, strips and polka dots, or strips and roses.
You almost look as though you are in a flower garden of your own. What a lovely setting for your outfit!
Your nautical pieces make me long for a trip to the ocean. I have not had a good ocean fix since January. We usually try to spend at least a weekend at the ocean with our children, but it has not worked out so far this year. The ocean is my favorite place on earth.
Here it is already Thursday, the weekend around the corner. I hope you get time to enjoy a bit of relaxing time.
♥Hope
Ooohhh, they really do. I love that concept, Hope, thank you very much for suggesting it. Tucked away in my inspiration file now and hopefully I can put something together one day that ticks off both of those boxes. :)
DeleteI definitely hear you there. It's a blessing to have numerous lakes around, for sure, but sometimes I do really yearn for the ocean, too (I was born a stone's throw from the Pacific and am certain that factors in for me). I really hope that you guys are able to make it back to the ocean soon, especially if it's your very favourite place on the planet.
Tons of hugs & happy weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
ohhh I have never heard of this company, new one to enjoy following. Thanks for sharing your adorable outfit! You matched all perfectly.
ReplyDeleteLiz :)
Thank you sweetly, lovely Liz. I really dig Inkabilly's offerings. They're fun, vibrant, well made, and bursting with mid-century inspired charm. I'm happy to have been able to introduce you to this fun company.
DeleteBig hug & fab Friday wishes,
♥ Jessica
Farm-meets-seafaring. Love it! I was going to say factory-meets-fisherman. But the cutest, most fashionably retro fisherman! These overalls are darling. They're not a style I've tried since grade school, and I don't care for the latest incarnation of grunge-inspired, minimalist styling. But this look that nods to Rosie the Riveter? This is something I might be willing to try! And this is such a beautiful backdrop for your photos. I definitely took the Great Lakes (as well as the smaller inland ones) for granted when we lived in Michigan! Now all I want is to live in a little lake town!
ReplyDelete<3 Liz
www.withwonderandwhimsy.com
That fits the bill for sure, too - and I bet that my angler husband would enjoy the term as well. :)
DeleteVery much so. Good eye! Freddies of Pinewood intentionally styled their classic overalls (see here) after similar 1940s WW2 war worker and Land Girl type styles, and indeed, they're cut in much more of a vintage way (and the fabric has virtually no stretch to it, unlike a lot of modern denim).
I hope that you're able to make that dream come true. I think that living near the water is something just about all of us benefit from. It isn't always possible (I've not always lived close to a lake or the ocean myself), but it's certainly worth striving for.
Many hugs & thanks for your great comment,
♥ Jessica
That bandana and brooch!!! Your outfit is perfection! Your stud earrings are a little out of place but I like it! I think that's what keeps it a little more 'now' :P haha.
ReplyDeleteCJ | From Manila with Love: Beauty, Life & Feminism
Hi CJ, thank you very much for your comment. It's great to "met" you. :) I definitely agree that back in the 40s, it would have been a bit strange to see earrings of this nature worn with a utilitarian garment like overalls, but thankfully these days we can mix and match style elements to our heart's content when centering a "just for fashion" look around this classic garment.
DeleteWishing you a fantastic weekend,
♥ Jessica
So cute!! I have yet to get a pair of these myself. Always on the wish list...
ReplyDeletexoxo
-Janey
They are just the best! I honestly consider each item that I own from Freddies to be some of the most wonderful investments I've ever made in my wardrobe. In terms of cost per wear, I'd say only certain shoes, pieces of jewelry, and winter coats come even close the volume that I get out my overalls (and FOP jeans). I'm sure these old school style overalls would look awesome on you and that you would style them in such fresh, inspiring ways.
DeleteBig hugs & joyful Friday wishes,
♥ Jessica
What a fun look! It looks incredibly comfy too, so win win!!! Love the nautical you have thrown in!
ReplyDeleteThank you sweetly, darling gal. They definitely are! I often wear these overalls for long days of activities such as yard saling, road trip driving, or fishing (technically me accompanying Tony while he fishes, as I myself don't fish). They're remarkably durable, wonderfully comfy, and just plain fun, to boot. :)
DeleteBig hugs & many heartfelt thanks for all of your fantastic blog comments this week,
♥ Jessica
You look like a nautical Rosie the rivetter which is perfectly reasonable considering women during WWII also worked on ships.
ReplyDeleteThat is how I see you well harmonized outfit.

Very good point, my dear. I certainly see that here, too, and really appreciate you bringing up that important element of WW2 history.
DeleteMany hugs & happy weekend wishes,

Love the brooch and scarf!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, sweet dear. It's lovely to hear from you again. I hope that you're doing great and enjoying a sunny, fun filled summer.
DeleteBig hugs coming your way,
♥ Jessica
Don't you look wonderful Jessica! I love a splash (excuse the pun) of nautical and have a beautiful Royal Navy sweetheart brooch that I wear as a necklace as the clasp was broken when I purchased it xxx
ReplyDeletePuns are always more than welcome around these parts - they're a firm favourite of mine and are always appreciated.
DeleteThank you very much for your lovely comment. It's great that you were able to turn a broken brooch into a pendant. That's a wonderful make do and mend sort of approach that you just know our foremothers would have appreciated.
Many hugs & happy weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
Very cute outfit! Always a fn of blue, red and white ...
ReplyDeleteThank you sweetly, my lovely friend. Same here! There are so many ways to play around with this combination. It can be everything from nautical to patriotic to Christmassy, and plenty of other styles as well.
DeleteI hope that you guys are doing great and enjoying a sunny, wonderful summer.
Big hugs,
♥ Jessica
Well you melded farmgirl and sailor girl perfectly! I just love that headscarf and how you wear it.
ReplyDeleteThat's really sweet of you to say, honey. Thank you very much! Inkabilly's scarves are just delightful. They're an especially nice length for tying around one's neck, classic mid-century style.
DeleteBig hugs & happy weekend wishes,
♥ Jessica
I love love love nautical looks and this outfit suits you so well!
ReplyDeleteAs always, all the little details really add that certain something to your outfit - simply amazing.
Many hugs,
Sandra
Overall on the overalls (pun well intended): I love this look.
ReplyDeleteTo some extent it looks like a lay-back everyday wear, but I have seen overalls going as far as being the essential part of an outstandingly posh looks, so I say: they are versatile, they are comfortable, and they do make feminine figure more.. curvaceous, right? (I, for one, have nothing against pears: both as a fruit and as a female figure type):)
You rock this look.
Flowers behind you look great, too. Nice choice of the background scenery.
Marija
Thank you sweetly, my lovely friend. Though your average 21st century dresser might not see them as such, I definitely see overalls as being on the more causal side of things and really like that they can help me out on the style front in that regard. I just live in this pair of Freddies ones, which I've had for some five or so years now, and am especially grateful to them for how very, very well they hold up at the dog park, where Annie and her energetic friends definitely put them through their paces. :)
DeleteDefinitely! Pears rock on all counts. My figure is hourglass with a wee bit of pear-ness and I've never minded it in the slightest. Curves jive so very well with most of the 40s, 50s and very early 60s styles that I adore, so I say, bring them on! :)
Tons of hugs, sincere thanks for all of your great recent blog comments, and happy last stretch of August wishes coming your way,
♥ Jessica
As you well know, I love overalls so this look is right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteThe nautical accessories are so cute and I love all the attention paid to the details.
Thank you sweetly, my lovely friend. It's awesome that we're both fans of overalls. You definitely look fantastic in yours as well.
DeleteMany sincere thanks as well for all of your fantastic recent blog comments. I'll be popping by to catch on your latest posts in the very near future, too.
Big hugs,
♥ Jessica
What a lovely outfit! Those overalls are wonderful, and look like they would be so comfortable too. Perfect blend of nautical and land girl. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Artyologist
Thank you kindly, honey. They are quite comfortable for sure, which says a lot about the expert tailing that Freddies of Pinewood employs, as there is virtually no stretch to this denim (as with most of their denim offerings). There have been times when I've worn these overalls for 14+ hours and been as comfy in them at the end of the day as at the very start. I highly, highly recommend them if you're ever looking for a thoroughly vintage looking pair of your own.
DeleteOodles of hugs & happy Friday wishes,
♥ Jessica
You look so cute!!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, darling gal. I hope that you've been having a sunny, fantastic summer.
DeleteBig hugs & happy end of August/start of September wishes,
♥ Jessica
If anyone can mix two or more styles with success, it's you, my dear. I love the nautical look, but never wear it myself, I really don't know why. And in fact I have been sailing a lot, ha. :) You look so fresh here, and even the background flowers match (red and blue, thanks to Tony). I noticed your charm bracelet and smiled when I read that you have made it yourself, so lovely. Have a nice day, dear. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderfully kind of you to say, sweet Sanne. Thank you so much! It was a blast pairing these two styles together. I'm wondering now, what other distinct look might jive with a nautical theme? Could full on wild west meet the ocean? Or how about an alpine ski + seafaring ensemble? Only experimentation will tell! :)
DeleteI'm touched that you noticed my charm bracelet. Thank you for doing so. As I continue to make time for crafting again (at long, lonnnngggg last!), I definitely plan to weave jewelry making into that fold once more, too. It's something I've been doing since I was quite young and that I really enjoy (my other two biggest crafting passions are scrapbooking + card making, and cross stitching).
How exciting that you've been doing a lot of sailing lately. I hope that you had a splendid time on the open waters.
Tons of hugs + happy summer-into-autumn wishes,
♥ Jessica
This is such a great look! You have taken a casual outfit up to the next level with your styling and accessorising. I really like the Freddie's overalls, the denim is a lovely colour. Great photos and I like how the colours in the flower bed are reflected in your outfit.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfully lovely comment, dear Kate. Thank you so much! I really have to give it to Freddie when it comes to the colouring process they use with their denim. I've had this pair of overalls/dungarees for some five years now, worn them dozens of times, washed them frequently, and they're still dark, crisply hued and really haven't faded much at all. Another point in favour of why they make such great fashion investment pieces. :)
DeleteOodles of hugs from the road,
♥ Jessica
